Culture Events in January

Musical adventures for the whole family, Guest Performance of Daile Theatre, energetic "Rikši" concert and  excellent Latvian films will be in January's cultural event basket.  
 
Christmas Hullaballoo. Performance for Families
Sunday, January 3rd 17.00, Great Hall,  7,00–12,00 € LAV
The performance is based on the motives of the movie “Christmas Hullabaloo”, directed by Varis Brasla in 1993. Participates: Elīna Vāne (Miss Konkordija), Mārtiņš Vilsons (Mister Skarainis), Regīna Devīte or Inese Ramute (Kristīne) and Ivars Auziņš (piano teacher Cīrulītis).

Moscow Men Choir Pravoslavnie Pevchie (Православные певчие) has been created in 1992, uniting the best professional singers of Moscow church choirs. There are not many outstanding man choirs in Russia, however, this choir is deservedly considered to be the best choir that continues the tradition of the singing daikon choirs in Russia since XVI century.

Modes fotogrāfa Artūra Kondrāta pirmā personālizstāde. Izstādē būs skatāmi 30 dažādu cilvēku portreti lielformāta fotogrāfijās: Kristaps Porziņģis, Ginta Lapiņa, Intars Busulis, Mārtiņš Sirmais, Renārs Zeltiņš, Jānis Skutelis un citas sabiedrībā atpazīstamas personas.

Post folklore music band “Rikši” celebrates the 5-year anniversary concert and presentation of the second music album “SIEJU SOVU”.  The celebration will be enriched with a participation of the guests – Rezekne Folklore Group “Rūta”, Rezekne Children and Youth Folklore Group “Vīteri” and Jaunpiebalga Middle-Age Dance Group “Piebaldzēni”.

One of the most popular myths created in the Soviet Union, tells the story about a little pioneer Pavlik Morozov. He did inform responsible authorities on his father, who was not satisfied with the actions of the Soviet Union. Cast – Wiktor Zborowski, Vilis Daudziņš, Andris Keišs, Antons Georgs Grauds, Liena Šmukste and others. Director and screenwriter – Laila Pakalniņa.

Dainis Īvāns – one of the most outstanding leaders and personalities of Latvian recent history. Film “Īvāns” is a story about a person, who symbolizes the new history of Latvia, a human-nation that gathers in itself the hopes, idealism, disappointment, choices, compromises, wins, and losses.  Director Andrejs Verhoustinskis, screenplay Nora Ikstena,  
composer Jēkabs Nīmanis.

Latgalian musician, author of songs and lyrics Andris Eriņš will celebrate his 60th anniversary. Concert program "Bridges of a Soul" will reveal the most beautiful songs composed by Andris Eriņš, performed by the composer himself, Aija Eriņa, Eriņi and Vorkaļi families, Ingrīda Balode-Augstkalne, group "Dricānu dominante", "Baltie lāči", "Gints un es", folklore friend’s group  "Vīteri", "Laimas muzykanti", Rezekne District Mixed Choir "Ezerzeme", as well as the instrumental music band of Einārs Lipskis.

It is one of the plays that has gained the cult status in Latvia. In the roles of the maids will perform legendary and well known Latvian actresses: Olga Dreģe, Velta Straume, Raimonda Vazdika, Laila Kirmuška, Jūlija Ļaha, Dace Makovska, Ginta Krievkalna or Liene Šomase, Maija Romaško and Juris Jope or Emīls Kivlenieks. Performance will present the music of Elga Īgenberga in the arrangement of Normunds Jakušonoks and lyrics of Arnolds Auziņš.

Playwright Inese Zandere: musical fairytale “Snow Queen” will be a celebration for the whole family – it will be enjoyable for children of different ages, as well as for adults. Director Inese Mičule, set by Ieva Kauliņa, costume designer Ieva Veita-Breidaka. Actors: LNO soloist Kristīne Zadovska, Ieva Sutugova, Andris Ērglis and others. In the performance participates the group of musicians under the lead of Jānis Lūsēns.
 
Sunday, January 31st 16.00, Great Hall, 5,00–13,00 € 7+
Concert of the Liepaja Symphony Orchestra, dedicated to 75th anniversary of Imants Kalniņš. Concert will reveal numerous compositions written by the composer: Concerto for Oboe and Orchestra, Seventh Symphony etc. Solist: Marts Kristians Kalniņš (oboe). Conductor: Māris Sirmais.
