In the message of the concert symphony by Sergei Rachmaninoff, are inweaved the unending circles of associations. The symbolic meaning of the bell are ringing the inevitable, unexpected and unchangeable events – the youth, growth, age, death and the hope for the new life. Silver bells – for winter dreams, golden bells – for weddings, bronze bells – for the alarm, iron bells – for goodbyes.

The first part of the symphony Бабий Яр by Dmitri Shostakovich tells the story about the Babi Yar tragedy – about many thousands of people, the most from whom were Jews, shot in the ravine of Babi Yar, Kiev during the World War II. The last for parts take a look in the nature of the humor that could not be broken and fought, the shopping of the tired Soviet women in the Soviet store, fear which disappears and a new fear that comes with the pace of the century, and finally, the career – in the meaning of the tiny careerism, as well as it`s greatest sense. The fundamental of the symphony is the poetry by the poet Yevgeny Yevtushenko – the verses, such an uncomfortable for that time, as a direct reference to the dark days of the recent history.

In the third concert of the Pearls of Russian Music, we will be able to enjoy the performance of many outstanding soloists.
