Meeting with actor Martin Wilson

4th of June at 18.00 The embassy of Latgale GORS invites a session of the documentary “Born in Siberia. Martin Vilson” and a meeting with the actor himself.

The film tells the story of one of the most painful pages in Latvia's history - the deportations of 1941 and 1949, when thousands of Latvians were sent out to Siberia. In harsh foreign circumstances, they tried to maintain humanity, raise children and not lose hope. These children grew up in a foreign state, among strangers, with a foreign language, often feeling like they belonged to nowhere.

One of those children is actor Martin Vilsons, born in exile in Magadan County, Russia. In the film, director Dzintra Geka reveals his life story as a personal testament to the fate of exiled Latvians, the search for identity and the way back to Latvia, which did not necessarily mean peace and sense of home.

“Born in Siberia. Martin Vilson” is a story about childhood as a stranger, about coming back and being able to survive while maintaining human dignity. The film intertwines the fate of one family and the entire nation.
