Opening of Jeļena Antonova’s Art Student Exhibition
Tuesday, September 1st 14.00. Lobby of the first floor
From September 1st to September 27nd, in the lobby of the first floor at the Embassy of Latgale GORS, a place will take the painting exhibition of “Art Studija” students. The art studio is led by the artist Jeļena Antonova. In the art classes, children paint as the real artists – artistic creations are made on the canvas, using acryl and oil paints in different techniques and implementing various styles of art.

In 1980s Romania, thousands of Western films broke through the Iron Curtain, opening the window into a free world for those who were brave enough to see. The black market of VHS recorders, ran by Mr. Zamfir, has helped to inspire the political change, while courageous translator has revealed the magic of film to the whole country, this way becoming an awakening voice for others. 5 years ago, in a cooperation with some spectacular composers and performing artists, Igo did begin the cycle of 4 basic elements: FIRE, EARTH, WATER, and AIR. Igo created the concert program WATER together with a composer Mārtiņš Brauns – the author of the song “Sun.Thunder.Daugava”, leader of the music band “Sīpoli” and composer of various outstanding compositions.

In the project participates the music group “Sigma”, seven Latvian poets – Anna Auziņa, Artis Ostups, Arvis Viguls, Inese Zandere, Inga Gaile, Kārlis Vērdiņš and Jānis Rokpelnis, as well as 7 dancers — the members of a contemporary dance choreographers union “ĀRĀ” (led by Olga Žitluhina) and Anatolijs Soldatenko representing the break dance group „Camelot”. The author of the project idea – Jānis Ozoliņš, Production Director – Inga Surgunte, Movement Director – Olga Žitluhina.

The new compositions of Maija Einfelde, Pēteris Plakidis, Mārīte Dombrovska, Gundega Šmite, Andris Dzenītis, Oskars Herliņš, Santa Bušs and Jēkabs Jančevskis with the concert-readings of Rainis poetry. Singers Ieva Parša and Krišjānis Norvelis, pianist Aldis Liepiņš, violist Pēteris Trasuns, trumpeter Jānis Porietis, storytellers Uģis Brikmanis and Orests Silabriedis.

Czech musician Alena Honigova will provide an opportunity for the audience of Baroque Music Days in Rezekne to hear for the first time the historic piano, manufactured by the British workshop „John Broadwood and Sons” during the beginning of 19th century. For this special event, the piano will travel together with the musician all the way from the Czech Republic. This concert program will present the compositions for the piano by the Czech composer Jan Ladislav Dussek.

The audience of the concert “String Quartettes of the Beginning of 19th Century” will have an opportunity to enjoy the compositions of Ludwig van Beethoven, Johann Joseph Resler, Jiri Sycha and Vincent Fluckiger. Participating: “Eisenberg Quartett” (Czech Republic), Vincent Fluckiger (Switzerland), and Alena Honigova (Czech Republic).

A little more than two hour long screening will present the award-winning short films of the International Short Film Festival “Open Place”: „Albert“ (Poland), „Photo“ (Estonia), „ Waiting for Her“ (Lithuania), „Father’s Day“ (Poland), „All My Dead“ (Latvia) and „The Queen of England Stole My Parents“ (Lithuania).

This concert program is a celebration of the 10th anniversary of musician’s professional career. In the program “Soļi”, singer has included her the most loved and favorite songs from the music albums produced and released during the previous years. Together with the creative team, under the lead of Kaspars Ansons and Kristaps Krievkalns, during the performance of Andrejeva will resound the most well-known and beloved compositions.

Concert program will reveal the Russian folk songs, fairy tales, and dances in the concert cycle “For Truly Little”. Participating: soloists Ilona Bagele and Mihails Čulpajevs, musicians Artūrs Noviks (accordion), Kaspars Zemītis (guitar), and Tatjana Ostrovska (violin).

The foundation of the theatre performance “Oh, I am Marrying a Young One” (Эх, женюсь на молоденькой) is the play “It's Not All Shrovetide for the Cat“ by Alexander Ostrovsky. Director – Vjaceslav Nevinnij. Wealthy seller Ahov decides to buy a new wife – young Agnia. He unexpectedly is confronted by the resistance of his in law, the poor and flabby Ipolit – husband of Agnia. It turns out, when the talk is about a real love, the money does not play an important role anymore.
